Blockages and Restricted Capacity

Some lines become completely blocked, while others continue to pass flow after losing a significant portion of their original capacity. The material restricting the pipe may also conceal corrosion, cracks, joint failures, or other structural defects. Motivo uses controlled water pressure, high flow, specialized nozzles, mechanical tooling, retrieval equipment, and vacuum recovery to remove material from the system.


The objective is not simply to create a temporary path through an obstruction. It is to remove the material from the system, restore usable capacity, and expose the pipe so its actual condition can be evaluated.
 

We remove:

  • Rocks, gravel, concrete, and grout

  • Roots

  • Heavy sediment and settled solids

  • Grease and process-related buildup

  • Scale and hardened deposits

  • Rust and flaking material produced by pipe deterioration

  • Tools, inspection equipment, construction debris, and other foreign objects

Infiltration and Leaking Lines

Aging and damaged buried piping can allow groundwater to enter the system or permit process water and other materials to escape into the surrounding soil. These conditions can create operational, environmental, and compliance concerns. Motivo cleans and inspects the line to locate and document the source of the problem. Based on the condition found, we determine whether the affected area can be rehabilitated using a point repair or trenchless lining system.

Common sources include:​

  • Cracks and fractures

  • Open or separated joints

  • Failed connections

  • Corroded or deteriorated pipe

Infiltration and Leaking Lines

Sinkholes

A sinkhole, depression, or other visible ground movement may indicate a problem with buried piping. The source is not always directly beneath the affected area, which can make the cause difficult to identify from the surface alone. Motivo uses cleaning, CCTV inspection, and locating equipment to investigate the piping near the affected area, document the conditions inside the line, and help determine where further access or repair may be needed.

We investigate:

  • Sinkholes and visible ground depressions

  • Suspected voids or soil loss near buried piping

  • Unexplained settlement or ground movement near buried piping

Sinkholes

Collapsed, Separated, or Missing Pipe

A collapsed, separated, or missing section can restrict flow, allow debris into the line, or prevent inspection equipment from reaching the rest of the system. Motivo evaluates the accessible portion of the pipe to determine the location, length, and severity of the damage. We can remove loose material, regain access through the affected area, and use point repair or trenchless lining methods to rehabilitate the line. 

We address:

  • Partially or completely collapsed sections

  • Separated or displaced joints

  • Cracked, punctured, or deformed pipe

  • Missing sections of pipe
