About Us

Built to Solve Difficult Buried Pipe Problems

Motivo Group helps industrial facilities inspect, clean, manage, and rehabilitate buried piping without trenching. We combine deep industrial experience with a broad range of inspection, cleaning, and trenchless rehabilitation technologies to help clients understand what is happening underground and determine the right path forward.

Since 2020, Motivo has completed more than 200 industrial projects, rehabilitated more than 5,000 pipe segments, and installed approximately 100,000 feet of liner. Our work has helped facilities restore critical systems, avoid disruptive excavation, address environmental and regulatory risks, and replace reactive emergency work with planned infrastructure management.

Our Story

Motivo’s roots trace directly to Atlas Inspection Technologies, a camera inspection company founded in 2003. Atlas initially focused on inspection equipment and camera rentals, but its work gradually moved deeper into refineries and other industrial facilities. The team began inspecting fixed equipment, sewer systems, and other difficult-to-access infrastructure.

Those projects exposed a recurring challenge. Facilities would call when they had a backup, leak, sinkhole, or other urgent issue, but the pipe was often too dirty to inspect. Even when an inspection identified damage, the customer was frequently left with information about the problem but no practical way to solve it.

A major refinery project in 2013 demonstrated the value of closely coordinating cleaning and inspection. By fully removing the material instead of simply creating a temporary path through it, the team could inspect the complete line, determine its actual condition, and give the facility useful information about what needed to happen next.

After Atlas was sold in 2018, several members of its former leadership team used those lessons to create Motivo Group. The goal was not simply to build another cleaning and inspection company. It was to build a company specifically for the difficult buried pipe challenges found inside industrial facilities. Motivo was designed to take those challenges from initial investigation through cleaning, condition assessment, trenchless rehabilitation, final verification, and long-term system planning.

Why Motivo Was Built

Buried pipe problems inside industrial facilities rarely fit into a simple category. A backup may be caused by accumulated material, a collapsed pipe, a loss of hydraulic capacity, an ineffective cleaning method, or a combination of conditions that cannot be understood until the line is properly cleaned and inspected.

Motivo helps clients understand and solve the complete problem. Our teams can evaluate a line before cleaning, determine the safest and most effective cleaning method, remove the material, inspect the pipe, document its condition, and recommend whether it should be rehabilitated, monitored, maintained, or left alone.

When rehabilitation is needed, we can select from multiple trenchless technologies rather than forcing every project into a single solution. When rehabilitation is not needed, we say so. Our responsibility is to provide clear evidence and recommend the action that best serves the client.

We also help facilities move from reactive failures to planned infrastructure management. Motivo can use existing drawings, pipe age, materials, service, operating history, and other available information to identify the lines that present the greatest risk and develop a prioritized inspection and rehabilitation roadmap. The result is greater clarity, more predictable capital planning, and a practical way to address the highest-risk infrastructure first.

Built for Industrial Facilities

Industrial plants are not ordinary work environments. They have demanding safety standards, permit systems, operating procedures, hazardous materials, production requirements, and site-specific work practices. Our teams understand those expectations and arrive prepared to work within them.

We support buried systems throughout refineries, chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, and other industrial operations. These systems include raw water and process lines; firewater, cooling water, and potable water systems; and oily-water, process sewer, stormwater, wastewater, and drainage systems. Many of our projects involve limited access, environmentally sensitive locations, contaminated soils, live operating units, regulatory deadlines, or pipes that cannot reasonably be excavated. These are the difficult buried infrastructure problems Motivo was created to solve.

Our teams understand that the technical solution is only part of a successful industrial project. The work must also be performed safely, coordinated with plant operations, completed within the available schedule, and documented clearly enough for everyone involved to understand the result.

Our Motto: Restore Integrity. Protect Life.

During one of Motivo’s earliest projects, our team was working on an oily-water sewer at a refinery along the coast. As the tide rose, water entered the system. As the tide fell, contaminated water moved back toward the surrounding environment.

That experience made the importance of this work unmistakable. Restoring the integrity of buried infrastructure is about more than keeping a pipe in service. It helps prevent contaminated water and hazardous materials from reaching soil, groundwater, rivers, wetlands, and other surrounding environments. In doing so, it protects the people who live and work nearby, the wildlife that depends on those ecosystems, and the communities connected to them. It also protects the facility itself. Reliable buried infrastructure supports safe operations, reduces the risk of shutdowns and emergencies, and helps protect the jobs, businesses, and families that depend on the facility’s continued operation.

That is what Restore Integrity. Protect Life. means to us.

Our Core Values

Team First: We put the success of the team ahead of individual interests. We communicate openly, support one another, share both the burdens and the wins, and lead by example so everyone is positioned to succeed. Our team extends beyond our coworkers. It includes our families, clients, suppliers, and partners, and we consider how our decisions affect each of them.

Honor & Integrity: We take full ownership of our work, including our mistakes, and focus on correcting the entire process rather than simply apologizing. We keep our commitments, deliver on time, and communicate immediately when circumstances change. We do what others should reasonably expect of us, even when no one is watching. We conduct ourselves with professionalism, maintain a constructive attitude, and protect the trust we have earned.

Grit: We approach difficult work with discipline, determination, and a solutions-focused mindset. We manage our emotions, avoid unproductive complaining, and stay focused on what the team needs from us. We do not accept failure as the final answer. We keep working, adapt when necessary, and believe that challenging problems can be solved.
